General guidelines
It is the responsibility of all authors that studies are performed with respect to national legislation, international legislation, and ethical guidelines with regards to humans and animals.
It is the responsibility of the authors that the author list is correct: all authors must qualify as authors and agree on the contents of the abstract.
It is the responsibility of the authors that the abstract is written in correct and clear English language. Please ensure that your abstract does not contain spelling, grammatical or scientific errors, as it will be reproduced exactly as submitted. Abstracts will not be proofread.
Language used should be inclusive and take the wider audience of the ECM2024 into consideration.
The inclusion of trade names/brand names is not allowed in the abstract unless this is peculiar and adds value to their work. The mentioning of agents/molecules must follow the scientific standard for publications.
Conflict of interest: It is the intent of ECM2024 to provide high quality sessions focused on educational content that is free from commercial influence or bias. Thus, the submitting author of an abstract is requested to declare any potential conflicts of interest for all authors during the abstract submission.
Presenting author and registration
The presenting author must register as an active participant at the conference at the latest 14 days after acceptance of an abstract.
The ECM2024 Conference Secretariat reserves the right to exclude any abstract if not followed by participant registration 14 days after notification of acceptance.

Format and length
You need to use the abstract template to upload your abstract. You can download the template here.
The length of the abstract should be max. 3600 character. This includes main text, excluding funding title, author names and affiliations, as well as funding information and references, if any).
The title should be as brief as possible but long enough to clearly indicate the nature of the study. Please do not include a full stop at the end of the title. As you must enter the title in the abstract system, you should not include it in your abstract document.
Please do not include any author names and institutions in the abstract document. You will enter the name(s) of author(s) and their institution(s) when submitting the abstract online. Please ensure that your email address (submitter and presenting author) is correct.
The abstract must include the following:
- Aim: Clearly state the purpose of the study.
- Methods: Describe your selection of observations or study participants clearly.
- Results: Present your results in a logical sequence.
- Conclusions: Emphasize new and important aspects of the study and the conclusions that are drawn from them. Highlight the impact of the results.
All abbreviations must be defined in first use.
Max. 3 references or website links may be listed at the end of the abstract, if applicable.
Funding acknowledgement should be included at the end of the abstract, if applicable.
Tables (characters included count): A maximum of 1 table can be included in the abstract word template with the following criteria: Combined maximum number of columns: 12 / rows: 20.
Graphs / Images: A maximum of 1 graph or 1 image each can be included. Tables turned into pictures/images are not accepted.
Abstracts can be re-edited and modified until the submission deadline.
Review and Acceptance
The Scientific Committee will review and evaluate abstracts.
For accepted abstracts, the Scientific Committee will determine the presentation type bearing in mind the author’s preference.
Abstracts will be reviewed blinded. The reviewers will judge the abstracts according to the scientific or clinical value, relevance to ECM2024, suitability of methods to aims, conclusions confirmed by objective results, objectivity of statements, description of methods used, ethics, originality of work, standard of English and overall impression.
Should the abstract be selected for oral and poster presentation, the authors, represented by the presenting author will be required to sign an agreement to grant ECM2024 the right to record the presentation (audio and slides) and subsequently use it for educational purposes (with or without a fee).
Abstracts not adhering to these guidelines will be rejected. If you do not agree with any of these rules, you should not submit an abstract.
